Since 1992, Thomas Baumann has been focusing on understanding how database engines work. He has a master degree of computer sciences from ETH Zurich, Switzerland, and is currently working as head of IT performance architecture at Swiss Mobiliar Insurance in Berne, Switzerland. If he is not in his office trying how to get the most out of database technology, he is somewhere lecturing on database optimization or database risk management. Thomas is a certified information systems auditor (CISA), holds a CRISC certificate, and is a member of the IDUG (International DB2 Users Group) speaker hall of fame.
Alain Fuhrer has a bachelor degree in computer science.
He worked a few years as Consultant in Oracle infrastructure and upgrade projects for different companies in Switzerland and is now responsible for the oracle database architecture and oracle projects at Swiss Mobilar Insurance. Since 2018 he is the Head of the Database Team
His focus is to get the best out of the oracle architecture. His subjects are grid infrastructure, maximum availability solutions and oracle multitenant 12.1 & 12.2
Alain designed the new architecture at Mobiliar to serve the requirements of the agile development with the great advantage of using pluggable databases.
Under his lead Mobiliar became a reference customer for the Oracle Multitenant technology.
Alain has an OCP certification, Member of the Oracle ACE Program and of the Swiss Oracle User Group.
Outside the working hours he does a lot of sport or spend the time for family and friends
Hans Eichenberger has a bachelor degree in electrical engineering and a postgraduate in software engineering. After some years working in electrical design for buildings he moved to the IT-business, since then he is working as a DBA. Apart from operation the oracle databases with best avalability, performance and security, he is driving the move of the database part from the classical approach development and operation into devops without negative side effects. Outside the working hours, Hans likes to ride his bicycles to be prepared for cycling tours around the world.
Christian Hählen has a master degree in computer science from ETH Zurich with focus information systems and has by now 9 years of experience in coding against, installing, tuning and operating Microsoft SQL Server. In addition to operating the SQL Servers at Swiss Mobiliar Insurance at their best performance, he is Co-Organizer of the PASS Chapter Switzerland for the events in Bern. Outside of working hours, Christian is either discovering newest technologies in the computer science world, entertaining his spectators as magician or entertaining himself on the curling rink or the ballroom dancefloor.
Paolo Kreth was born in Genoa and has a master degree in computer science from Università degli Studi di Genova. He has worked several years as a freelancer Oracle DBA and Developer, before settling to Switzerland, and working as Principal Instructor at Oracle University. Since 2010 he is working at Swiss Mobiliar, first as Oracle Technical Lead and project manager and since 2015 as Head of the Datamanagement Team. Paolo has an OCP certification and is member of the Swiss Oracle User Group. Under his lead Mobiliar became reference customer for Oracle 12c and for Oracle in Memory technology. His passion is the Mobiliar Performance Warehouse, he build with his team in 2012. Outside of working hours, Paolo spends his time with his family, listens to Jazz and plays soccer with the Mobilar Soccer Team.
